Marlen is a partner within the Litigation and Arbitration Law Department at Roca Junyent and Director of the Arbitration Department.
Her academic formation started with a Degree in Law and a Degree in Business Administration, both at Universidad Pontificia de Comillas, ICADE (2000-2006). She completed her academic training with a Master’s Degree in Civil and Commercial Mediation at Universidad San Pablo, CEU, (2012) and a Specialization course in Anglo-American Law at Centro de Estudios Garrigues (2009).
Her extensive professional experience consists in settling disputes concerning a wide range of fields, such as claims for contractual and non-contractual damages and disputes within the framework of Corporate Law.
Prior to joining Roca Junyent, Marlen worked at the Litigation and Arbitration departments at Cuatrecasas and King & Wood Mallesons (KWM).Throughout her career, developed in Madrid and London, she has provided advice to companies in all sectors, in both national and international disputes, before judicial tribunals.
Specifically, in the field of arbitration, Marlen has worked both as an arbitrator and lawyer in numerous international and national arbitrations within the context of commercial and investment arbitration.
Currently she is Secretary of the Ibero-American Law Department at the Royal Academy of Spanish Law and Jurisprudence, Ambassdor of the Ibero-American Arbitration Centre (CIAR), Member of the Committee of the International Legal Services of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe and Endeavor mentor (mentoring CEOs and Exec teams of the best startup portfolio in Spain).
In 2017 she has been recommended as a leading lawyer in Dispute Resolution by Chambers and Partners and has been selected by her peers to be included in The Best Lawyers in Spain.
Marlen has conducted the First Survey of Arbitration in Spain ("Primer Estudio de Arbitraje en España") that aims to compile, throughout an unprecedented meticulous fieldwork, the Spanish enterprises’ perception of arbitration as a mechanism for dispute resolution.
