A Partner at Lenz & Staehelin's Geneva office, Mark Barmes advises individuals and trustees in all aspects of wealth planning. He regularly advises in both international and domestic contexts, particularly assisting foreign private clients and trustees to establish themselves in Switzerland and to resolve disagreements. Mark Barmes is on the board of Swiss trustee companies and contributes actively in the field of wealth planning in Switzerland through membership and lecturing for STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and as a Committee member of the Swiss Association of Trust Companies (SATC).
In addition to his private client work, Mark Barmes also acts for international organizations in employment disputes before the Administrative Tribunal of the International Labour Organization.
Mark Barmes studied economics and law at the University of Queensland, Brisbane, Australia. He is qualified as a solicitor in Australia (1987) and in England and Wales (1992). He has been registered as a foreign solicitor with the Geneva Bar Association since 1990 and a partner with Lenz & Staehelin since 1998.
