Mark A. Romance, a shareholder with the firm, is a trial and appellate attorney who focuses his practice on commercial litigation and other complex litigation, including non-compete, trade secret, intellectual property, real estate, mortgage foreclosure, product defect and estate and trust litigation. Mr. Romance, who joined the firm in 1994, has experience representing clients in cases involving multi-million dollar claims, often in defense of Fortune 100 companies in high-stakes litigation. He has obtained numerous summary judgments and judgments after trial for clients in a variety of complex litigation cases in areas of law including product defect claims, non-compete and theft of trade secret claims, real estate, trusts and estates disputes and breach of contract claims. He has obtained favorable results in trial courts, arbitration and in state and federal appellate courts.
His professional involvement includes serving as co-chair of the Trade Secret Litigation sub-committee of the American Bar Association Section of Litigation’s Business and Corporate Litigation Committee. He is also a member of The Florida Bar Committee on Technology/Office Tools and Resources. Previously, he served on Florida’s Eleventh Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission, which he chaired from 2010-2011. He also previously served as president of The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division; on The Florida Bar Board of Governors; as chair of The Florida Bar Civil Procedure Rules Committee; on The Florida Bar Rules of Judicial Administration Committee, on the Florida Supreme Court Professionalism Commission; on The Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Board of Governors; on the Board of Directors of the Dade County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Section; and was the American Bar Association FEMA representative for the State of Florida. Additionally, he previously served as a member of the St. Thomas University School of Law Board of Advisors, and as president of the St. Thomas Law School Alumni Association. He is also a member of the International Trademark Association.
