Marie-Pierre Boudreau

Marie-Pierre is a lawyer in the Environmental Law group at our Montréal office. Her practice focuses on the areas of environmental, Indigenous and energy law.

She provides strategic legal counsel on matters related to plastics, including compliance, regulation, and environmental impact.

She assists clients in preparing environmental permit applications and analyzing regulatory compliance issues. She provides guidance to clients on the relevant legislative framework for their projects and advises them in their negotiations with government authorities. Moreover, Marie-Pierre has regulatory experience in the areas of residual materials, contaminated sites, threatened and vulnerable species, and mine tailings. She also advises clients on matters involving contaminated land, off-site contamination and neighbourhood disputes. She has also supported clients facing administrative and penal measures imposed by municipal, provincial and federal authorities, such as AMPs, orders and criminal proceedings. She has represented clients before the Superior Court and the Criminal and Penal Division of the Court of Québec and has also been involved in preparing applications filed in the Québec Court of Appeal.

Marie-Pierre also advises clients on Indigenous law. Her advice to clients in this area focuses primarily on the duty to consult Indigenous communities and on drafting and negotiating collaborative agreements between project developers and affected communities. Her experience in this area highlights how critically important it is to build good relationships with Indigenous peoples from the early stages of a project. In addition, Marie-Pierre has co-authored several articles and other texts on the issue.
