Marie Grüger

Marie C. Grüger specialises in arbitration, litigation and dispute resolution. She acts both as arbitrator and as counsel. She assists companies and individuals in navigating complex disputes in all areas of business and commercial law.

As counsel Marie C. Grüger has successfully represented clients in high-stake arbitrations (including DIS) and litigation proceedings in German courts. She has handled coporate, shareholder and a variety of contract, trade and other commercial disputes. Before joining SPANGENBERG, she practised two years as an associate in the department for Commercial Litigation at the international law firm White & Case LLP in Hamburg (2019-2021). She gained broad experience in navigating insolvency and corporate disputes as well as mass litigation.

Marie C. Grüger completed her legal traineeship (Referendariat, Second German State Exam, Lower Saxony, 2019) with stages at the Senate Chanellery of the city of Hamburg in the department for International Cooperation, at the practice group Litigation, Arbitration & ADR at Noerr LLP in Frankfurt am Main as well as in the department of Competition Law at Allen & Overy LLP in Hamburg. Alongside her stages, she also worked as research assistant in the field of Dispute Resolution at Corinius LLP in Hamburg. Marie C. Grüger received an LL.M (with distinction) in the field of Dispute Resolution at the University of Cape Town (South Africa) in 2016. She studied law at the University of Heidelberg (First German State Exam, Baden-Württemberg, 2015) including an exchange semester at the université de Lausanne in Switzerland. During her studies she also worked as a student assistant at the Institute for Comparative Law, Conflict of Laws and International Business Law at the University of Heidelberg and in the practice group Litigation, Arbitration & ADR at Noerr LLP in Frankfurt am Main. She holds a certificate of the International Baccalaureate from Ardingly College (UK).

Marie C. Grüger’s working languages are English and German. She also has a very good knowledge of the French language.
