With over 25 years' experience acquired initially in commercial litigation, then in commercial law and corporate governance, Marie-Geneviève specializes in business law.

She regularly acts as in-house counsel for her clients, drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements of all kinds, such as services, transportation and logistics contracts, supply agreements and commercial leases. She also advises management teams on corporate governance issues.

As part of her litigation practice, Marie-Geneviève assists businesses in litigation management. She also represents clients before civil and administrative courts, notably in commercial and civil liability disputes. She also assists and advises clients in the context of investigations conducted by various regulatory bodies, including the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF).

Recognized for her thoroughness and professionalism, Marie-Geneviève uses her excellent communication skills to foster collaboration, demonstrating great availability to both her clients and colleagues.

Representative work

  • Developed and implemented processes, policies and tools to ensure the regulatory compliance of a major Quebec transportation company with respect to personal data protection legislation (Bill 25).
  • Acted as legal counsel for several buseinesses in the health law field, supporting them in their various business needs, including contract drafting, negotiation and review.
  • Successful outcome before the Supreme Court of Canada in a litigation case between shareholders: Menillo vs. Intramodal Inc., 2016CSC51.
  • Successful outcome before Quebec Superior Court, for a 22-million-dollar civil liability case against an individual in virtue of general civil law and in virtue of Quebec’s securities law (Loi sur les valeurs mobilières du Québec [LVMQ]). This case dealt with LVMQ issues of interpretation that had never previously been decided upon.
  • Successful outcome within judicial review files of the Commission of Inquiry into the Sponsorship Program (Gomery Commission).
