María Gutiérrez Rodríguez has been a member of the Madrid Bar Association since 2000 and has extensive experience in representing individuals and legal entities in complex criminal proceedings, especially in the area of business crime.
María Gutiérrez studied law in Universidad de Sevilla, where she was awarded the valedictorian honor for having the highest ranking in her class. After graduate studies at Ludwig Maximillian Universität in Munich María Gutiérrez got her PhD. in Law from the Universidad de Sevilla, with honors. She is currently professor of Criminal Law at Universidad Complutense de Madrid. María also collaborates as a lecturer in graduate and specialization courses (Master of Law, Master of Economic Criminal Law, Expert Course in Criminal Compliance) at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, the Universidad Carlos III, the Ortega y Gasset Foundation and the Business Centre of the Universidad San Pablo CEU, among other prestigious institutions. She has numerous publications on the general and special part of Criminal Law and on International Criminal Law, and has carried out several research stays at the Universities of Berlin, Munich and Bonn.
Before joining Oliva-Ayala Abogados Maria worked at the litigation department at Gómez Acebo & Pombo Abogados. Throughout her extensive professional career she has advised national and international clients in contentious and pre-litigation matters, covering all areas of Criminal Law and, in particular, Economic and Environmental Criminal Law. She has also participated in the design and implementation of Crime Prevention Models and Compliance programs in companies in various sectors of activity
