Margaret Nelligan is a former Practice Group Leader of the Aird & Berlis LLP's Corporate Finance Group and a current member of the Energy, Mergers & Acquisitions and Private Equity & Venture Capital Teams.
Margaret practises in the areas of corporate and securities law, including corporate governance, investments for financial institutions and pension plans, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, public financings, acquisition financings, private placements, proxy solicitations, corporate reorganizations and general corporate work.
Margaret has acted as counsel to one of Canada's largest gas distribution utilities, one of Canada's largest pension plans, various large governmental and quasi-governmental not-for-profit entities, as well as numerous public and private industrial companies. She regularly advises the boards of directors of public companies on corporate governance and other matters. Margaret is a director of Horizon Utilities Corporation, Ontario's fifth largest electricity distributor, and a member of the board of trustees of Allied Properties REIT. She is also a director of Lakefield College School, and was a director of Alpine Ontario Alpin, the provincial governing body for the sport of alpine ski racing in Ontario.
