Margaret Lindauer is an associate attorney with Kemp Klein in Troy, Michigan. Her practice focuses on Elder Law, Tax Law, and Trusts and Estates. She works with individuals and families on estate planning, helping clients design, prepare, and implement plans that reflect their goals and personal circumstances. Margaret also assists clients with probate and trust administration, guiding them through the legal and practical steps involved in managing and distributing assets.
Before joining Kemp Klein, Margaret practiced at a boutique law firm in Northville where she concentrated on estate planning and elder law matters. In that role, she worked closely with clients to address long-term planning needs, including strategies that consider tax implications, family considerations, and asset protection.
Margaret grew up in Chelsea, Michigan, before moving to Chicago to complete her undergraduate studies. She attended DePaul University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts and Social Sciences in Political Science. During her time at DePaul, Margaret received a Fulbright Scholarship that allowed her to travel to Japan. She also spent a semester studying in London, where she worked in the Prime Minister’s office. In addition, she interned in the United States Senate and worked for a Representative in the Illinois House of Representatives, where she was recognized for her research on nuclear power plants.
Margaret earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. While in law school, she was a member of the Moot Court Team and gained legal experience through positions with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, and The Chicago Community Trust.
At Kemp Klein, Margaret continues to assist clients throughout Michigan with matters involving estate planning, probate and trust administration, elder law planning, and tax-related considerations connected to trusts and estates.
