Marcia W. Sullivan concentrates her practice on complex transactions in commercial real estate finance for commercial banks, insurance companies, finance companies and other lenders. She assists clients in financing a variety of projects across the nation, including shopping centers, hotels, office buildings, build-to-suit, apartments, golf courses and for-sale residential properties.
Marcy also represents lenders and investors in unsecured and secured lines of credit, permanent financing and mezzanine financing, and deeds in lieu of foreclosure, as well as borrowers in connection with community development loan transactions. Marcy counsels lenders, investors, trustees and borrowers in loan securitizations and derivative investments such as tax-exempt municipal bonds, as well as in portfolio transactions and structured financings. She advises lenders in loan participations and co-lender arrangements, sales of participation interests in various loans and sales of non-performing loans and properties, including short sales, workouts and foreclosures. Additionally, she has represented a major affordable housing investor as local counsel for Fannie Mae bond transactions in Illinois.
Marcy is actively involved in several women's initiatives in the legal and real estate industries. She was a member of the editorial advisory board of Metro Chicago Real Estate Magazine. A frequent speaker at real estate industry and continuing legal education conferences, she also has served as an adjunct professor at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law.
