Makenzie Spinks is a Seattle-based attorney with Helsell Fetterman LLP whose practice centers on Land Use and Zoning Law and Real Estate Law. She represents developers, property managers, community associations, businesses, and individuals in disputes involving property rights, land use approvals, contract enforcement, and regulatory compliance. Makenzie has courtroom experience in both Washington state and federal courts and handles matters from early dispute resolution through trial.
Her work frequently involves navigating complex administrative processes and representing clients before local land use boards, planning commissions, and other regulatory bodies. Makenzie also has experience with administrative proceedings under the Administrative Procedure Act. While fully prepared to advocate for clients in litigation, she focuses on resolving disputes efficiently when possible and helping clients pursue practical outcomes that support their broader development and business goals.
In addition to litigation, Makenzie maintains a strong transactional background in Real Estate Law. She has worked on purchase and sale agreements, commercial and residential leases, and licensing arrangements. This combined litigation and transactional experience allows her to identify potential risks early, structure agreements with long-term considerations in mind, and help clients move projects forward while minimizing the likelihood of future disputes.
Before joining Helsell Fetterman LLP in Seattle, Washington, Makenzie practiced in Bend, Oregon, where she handled a wide range of corporate and real estate matters. She earned both her Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor from the University of Oregon. Outside of her legal practice, Makenzie enjoys following sports, scuba diving, and traveling.
