Lynn Luker joined Stanley, Reuter, Ross, Thornton & Alford, LLC in 2015. Before joining the firm, Ms. Luker founded and managed her own firm, Lynn Luker & Associates, LLC, for 16 years after practicing law for 18 years at Adams and Reese, in its New Orleans office, where she was a partner and practice group leader. Her practice areas are complex business litigation, including toxic tort, maritime, and product liability law. Ms. Luker has served as national, regional, and local trial counsel in asbestos, benzene, noise, and other environmental cases for over 30 years. She holds as J.D., LL.M. in Admiralty, and an LL.M. in Energy and Environmental Law from Tulane Law School, where she has served as Professor and Co-Director of the Trial Advocacy Program since 1992. She also serves as Co-Director of Tulane’s Civil Litigation Pre-Trial Boot Camp. Additionally, she teaches a course on Electronic Discovery and Evidence at Tulane Law School, and has been awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award.
Ms. Luker was appointed by the Louisiana Supreme Court to serve as Judge Pro Tempore for the Civil District Court for the Parish of Orleans for a six month term commencing July 1, 2014. Following her term as Judge, Ms. Luker joined Perry Dampf Dispute Resolution, where she serves as a mediator and arbitrator.
Ms. Luker is the Chair of the Louisiana State Bar Association Section of Civil Law and Litigation and serves on the Committee on the Profession. She also served as the Chair of the New Orleans Bar Association Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee. She is a frequent national speaker on a number of subjects ranging from trial practice, alternative dispute resolution, ethics, and professionalism. She was awarded the Human Rights Award by the Louisiana State Bar Association.
Ms. Luker is the former chair of the ABA TIPS Toxic Tort Section and the Admiralty Law Section, and former chair of the IADC Maritime and Energy Law Section, and she also served on the faculty of the IADC National Trial Academy. She is also the former chair of the Louisiana Judiciary Commission, the state disciplinary board for judges, and served on the Louisiana Judicial Campaign Oversight Committee. Ms. Luker has served as President of the Tulane American Inn of Court. She is also a member of the International Society of Barristers. For many years, Ms. Luker was also a member of the Product Liability Advisory Council. Ms. Luker previously served as Chair of the National Association of Minority and Women Owned Law Firms (NAMWOLF).
Ms. Luker served as co-director for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy (NITA) for many years at both its trial and deposition programs, and is a frequent presenter at continuing legal education programs, including several “Trial By Masters” programs. Ms. Luker is admitted to practice in all Louisiana courts, both state and federal, the United States Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the United States Supreme Court.
Ms. Luker has been named as a “SuperLawyer” each year since 2007, a “Leader in Law” by New Orleans CityBusiness, and as one of the “Best Lawyers in America” since 2009. She holds an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
