Luise A. Barrack is Special Counsel in the Litigation Department at Rosenberg & Estis, P.C. in New York, New York. She served as Managing Member of the firm from 2010 through 2020, during a period of significant growth for the firm. In 2018, the firm received the “Litigation Department of the Year: Real Estate” award from the New York Law Journal. Ms. Barrack represents clients in complex real estate and commercial litigation matters and is known for providing practical counsel and long-term client service.
Ms. Barrack practices extensively in Real Estate Law and litigation throughout New York courts and administrative agencies. Her practice includes representing developers, lenders, commercial property owners, hoteliers, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions in a broad range of real estate disputes and transactions. She has substantial experience handling matters involving the New York Loft Law, including legalization issues, valuation of loft fixtures, and code compliance costs.
In addition to her real estate litigation practice, Ms. Barrack represents owners and developers in construction-related disputes, property development matters, demolitions, assemblages, and landlord-tenant disputes involving succession rights, non-primary residence claims, and owner occupancy proceedings. Her experience also includes cooperative and condominium disputes, shareholder litigation, rent regulatory matters, and administrative proceedings, including applications involving certificates of no harassment (CONH).
Over the course of her career, Ms. Barrack has handled a variety of significant real estate matters in New York City. Her representations have included defending a developer in proceedings related to demolition plans for a Central Park South property, negotiating a multimillion-dollar property exchange involving Columbia University, representing New York Law School in connection with property acquisition matters tied to its urban campus expansion, and litigating disputes concerning ownership interests in High Line-area properties.
