Linda Godel is a partner at Torkin Manes LLP in Toronto, Ontario, and chairs the firm’s Not-for-Profit and Charities Law practice group. Her practice focuses on Charities / Non-Profit Law and Trusts and Estates, advising a broad range of charitable and not-for-profit organizations across Canada.
Linda provides counsel to charitable organizations, public and private foundations, professional and industry associations, self-regulated bodies, and organizations operating in sectors including religion, health care, education, social services, poverty abatement, childcare, athletics, and recreation.
Acting as external general counsel to numerous charitable and non-charitable organizations, Linda advises clients on governance and operational matters affecting the not-for-profit sector. Her work includes corporate structuring and restructuring, by-law interpretation, directors’ and officers’ liability, regulatory compliance, cross-border and international relationships, charitable gifting, endowment and fundraising matters, and general commercial issues.
