Levi W. Barrett

Levi W. Barrett is a Partner in Peckar & Abramson PC, practicing from the firm’s New York, New York and New Jersey offices. He serves as co-managing partner of the New Jersey office and chair of the firm’s Construction Contracts & Risk Management practice. His practice centers on construction law, where he advises clients on public and private construction contracts throughout the United States.

Levi works closely with contractors, construction managers, owners, and developers to structure, draft, and negotiate construction contract documents for projects nationwide. He oversees the preparation, negotiation, and review of a substantial volume of construction agreements each year and counsels clients on risk allocation, contract administration, and risk mitigation planning for both public infrastructure and private development projects.

His practice also includes advising foreign contractors on establishing and operating construction businesses in the United States, as well as assisting domestic contractors and service providers with managing operations and contractual risks on international projects. Levi is frequently engaged to conduct due diligence in connection with mergers, acquisitions, and other transactions involving construction companies.

In addition to his transactional construction law practice, Levi represents general contractors and subcontractors in complex construction disputes involving delays, inefficiencies, differing site conditions, constructive changes, extra work claims, and default-related matters.

Levi regularly writes and presents on construction contract negotiations and evolving project delivery methods, including design-build and delegated design. He teaches an annual master’s level course in construction law at the University of Stuttgart and serves as a guest lecturer at Columbia University’s College of Engineering and at Syracuse University.

Levi has been recognized by Chambers USA for his work in construction law. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the State of New Jersey, and the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from San Francisco State University and his Juris Doctor from Syracuse University College of Law.
