Lauren C. Tompkins

Lauren Tompkins is an associate in the firm’s Cleveland office.

In her education practice, Lauren represents K-12 public, private and community schools as well as institutions of higher education. She supports schools, colleges and universities with employment related matters, policy review, and general compliance concerns. Further, Lauren routinely serves as a Title IX Investigator. In this role, she serves as a neutral party to investigate complaints of sex-based discrimination and sexual misconduct in educational institutions and provides a detailed, unbiased report regarding the investigation’s findings. Her experience in this area further bolsters the capabilities of the firm’s Higher Education practice group.

Lauren also has a wide range of experience representing employers in state and federal courts and before various administrative agencies. She focuses her practice on harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and leave-related complaints as well trade secrets and non-competition claims. She also provides advice and consultation to clients on day to day employment and HR related issues and conducts work place investigations.

She is a member of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association, where she was the Chair of the Labor and Employment Section and the Annual Labor and Employment Conference for four years. Lauren currently holds the role of Past Chair for the Labor and Employment Section and is actively involved in strategically planning events and CLEs for the Section. She is also a member of the Cleveland Employment Inns of Court. She has been selected for inclusion in Ohio Super Lawyers - "Rising Star" every year since 2017. Lauren is also a volunteer for the Legal Aid Society of Cleveland.

Prior to joining Fisher Phillips, Lauren handled general business litigation, employment litigation and employment consulting for another Cleveland law firm. Lauren was also a judicial extern for the Honorable Patricia A. Gaughan in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio and an extern for the United States Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Ohio. She earned her law degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and her undergraduate degree from College of Wooster.
