Lauren Bergelson is an accomplished intellectual property attorney whose practice focuses on copyright, trademark, and other complex IP and litigation matters. Recognized by Best Lawyers for Intellectual Property Law, Lauren brings a strong blend of litigation experience, industry insight, and client-focused advocacy to her work at Oppenheim + Zebrak, LLP.
Based in New York, Lauren advises and represents clients in high-stakes intellectual property disputes involving content protection and online piracy. She is a key member of the O+Z team representing leading educational publishers Cengage, Macmillan Learning, Elsevier, and McGraw Hill in a copyright and trademark infringement action against Google concerning the advertising of unauthorized, infringing copies of the Plaintiffs’ textbooks and educational works.
Before joining O+Z, Lauren practiced at Ropes & Gray LLP in New York, where she represented clients in commercial litigation and government enforcement matters while maintaining an active pro bono practice. Her litigation background gives her a practical, strategic perspective in helping clients protect and enforce their creative and intellectual property rights.
Lauren earned her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. While at Columbia, she served as Executive Submissions Editor for the Columbia Journal of Law & the Arts and Co-President of the Entertainment Arts & Sports Law Society. She also interned with the National Advertising Division of the Council of Better Business Bureaus.
