Kyla Mahar is a Partner at Miller Thomson LLP and her practice focuses on corporate restructuring, insolvency, recapitalizations, distressed acquisitions and enforcement of creditors' rights. Kyla is recognized by Chambers nationally and internationally, Best Lawyers and Lexpert for her expertise in Insolvency & Financial Restructuring. Kyla’s roles include acting for debtors, court officers, DIP lenders, purchasers, and financial institutions. Her experience spans a wide range of industries and sectors including cannabis, real estate development, manufacturing, steel, mining, maritime, automotive, not-for-profits, retail, financial services, technology, and publishing.
Kyla is a creative thinker and solution-oriented. She has developed particular expertise in leading companies through restructuring proceedings under the Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act and the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act as well as leading creditor-driven restructuring proceedings. She is also experienced in assisting companies under the relevant corporate statute to effect a restructuring, liquidation or wind up.
Kyla is a member of the Insolvency Institute of Canada and is the Canadian Networks Chair on the International Women’s Insolvency and Restructuring Confederation’s International Board.
