Kurtis Harms is an Associate at Farris LLP in Vancouver, British Columbia, and a member of the firm’s Corporate & Commercial Group. His practice focuses on Corporate Law, including mergers and acquisitions, securities law, corporate finance, and corporate governance. Kurtis advises public and private companies across a range of industries on transactional, regulatory, and governance matters, offering practical and business-focused legal counsel.
Based in Vancouver, Kurtis works with clients on a broad range of Corporate Law matters involving business transactions, financing arrangements, corporate organization, commercial agreements, and ongoing governance considerations. He assists clients with acquisitions, divestitures, private placements, corporate reorganizations, shareholder matters, and day-to-day corporate and commercial issues.
Kurtis earned his Juris Doctor from the University of British Columbia, where he achieved the highest overall academic standing in the Business Law Concentration. He joined Farris LLP as an associate in 2020 after completing both his summer and articling terms with the firm.
Before entering the legal profession, Kurtis obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, graduating with distinction. His background includes co-captaining an engineering student team that designed and raced autonomous sailboats, contributing to a financial technology startup, and developing software for scientific research applications. This technical and analytical experience informs his approach to corporate and commercial legal matters, particularly for clients operating in technology, engineering, and innovation-driven industries.
