Kirby Cronin

With more than 30 years of experience, Kirby Cronin advises clients on a broad range of intellectual property, technology, and commercial matters. His practice includes trademarks, copyrights, patents, trade secrets, domain names, social media issues, software licensing, SaaS offerings, intellectual property transfers, and other technology-focused transactions and disputes.

Kirby’s practice is heavily focused on intellectual property portfolio management, where he counsels clients on the development, protection, and enforcement of global intellectual property assets and related risk management strategies. He supports trademark matters for more than 100 clients across the United States and in more than 60 foreign jurisdictions, helping businesses manage and protect their brands on an international scale.

In addition to intellectual property counseling, Kirby has extensive experience in intellectual property transactions, technology agreements, commercial litigation, and business transactions. Clients frequently rely on him as an extension of their internal legal team, turning to him for practical legal guidance across a wide range of operational and strategic business issues.

Kirby is known for helping clients navigate complex legal issues in clear, understandable terms so they can make informed business decisions aligned with their long-term goals. Throughout his career, he has also been actively involved in mentoring and training younger attorneys. In addition to coaching developing lawyers in private practice, he previously taught Transactional Drafting at the The University of Texas School of Law.

Kirby is admitted to practice in Texas, multiple United States District Courts in Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
