Kimberly Verska concentrates her practice on corporate and technology transactions, regulatory compliance, and Privacy and Data Security Law. Based in Atlanta, Georgia, she represents businesses of varying sizes through CM Law, LLP.
Ms. Verska advises providers of software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms, software, professional services, managed services, and other technology products in transactions with counterparties ranging from multinational financial institutions to individual consumers. Her work includes domestic and cross-border transactions involving technology licensing, hardware resale, managed services, and related contractual and regulatory matters. Her industry experience includes financial services, supply chain finance, e-commerce platforms, and services supporting small and midsize businesses.
Ms. Verska has practiced in the area of cross-border data privacy and security law since the development of the EU Data Protection Directive. She advises clients on compliance with global privacy requirements, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), U.S. federal privacy laws, and state privacy and data breach laws. She is certified as an Information Privacy Professional (U.S.) through the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Her privacy and data security work includes counseling clients regarding the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA), the CAN-SPAM Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), and other state requirements concerning data collection, use, sharing, security, and breach response. She works with B2B service providers, consumer-facing websites, automobile manufacturers, healthcare service providers and plans, and digital advertising platforms.
As a member of CM Law’s Government, Regulatory and Compliance team, Ms. Verska also advises clients on regulated business activities beyond privacy and data security, including online auctions, consumer payments, blockchain-enabled payment systems, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) compliance. She also serves as outsourced general counsel to small businesses and established companies seeking ongoing legal support without hiring in-house counsel.
Ms. Verska’s approach to legal counseling is informed by her experience managing growing and innovative law firms. She currently serves as Managing Partner of CM Law’s Atlanta office and, since 2005, has participated in the management of two firms that grew from inception to more than 70 attorneys during her tenure. This business and management background informs her practical approach to identifying material legal risks, controlling costs, and providing clear communications tailored to business leaders.
