Kevin O’Connor is a Partner at Peckar & Abramson PC, where he serves as Chair of the Business Litigation practice and Co-Vice Chair of the Labor & Employment practice. Based in River Edge, New Jersey, Kevin represents management-side clients in Commercial Litigation, Employment Law – Management, and Labor Law – Management matters across a wide range of industries. He is a United States Air Force veteran, having served for six years in the Strategic Air Command, and graduated from law school with honors in 1995. While in law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Rutgers Law Review.
Kevin’s practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, employment litigation, and construction-related matters. He is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney and has substantial experience representing employers and businesses in EPLI and D&O defense, class action defense, partnership and corporate dissolutions, construction litigation, unfair competition claims, restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes, RICO and securities law defense, and matters involving the Computer Fraud & Abuse Act and Computer Related Offenses Act.
Kevin has tried cases to conclusion in both bench and jury trials and has handled domestic and international arbitrations involving high-value disputes, including matters with amounts in controversy exceeding $1 billion. He regularly lectures on business litigation, employment law, and labor law topics and has authored numerous articles addressing issues relevant to management and corporate clients.
In addition to his litigation practice, Kevin has an extensive record of professional service. He was appointed to the District XA Ethics Committee by the New Jersey Supreme Court in 2007 and served as Chair beginning in 2021 for a two-year term. Kevin also serves as the New Jersey Chair for the Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and is the New Jersey Editor of the Bloomberg treatise Employment at Will, a State-by-State Survey.
Kevin is a key contributor to P&A’s Business Owner Rights Blog, where he writes on issues affecting New Jersey businesses, employers, and management.
Kevin is active in the American Bar Association and the Defense Research Institute (DRI), where he participates in the Retail & Hospitality, Employment Law, and Construction Law Committees. He is also a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance (CLM). In 2019, Kevin was elected as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation, an honorary society recognizing attorneys, judges, law faculty, and legal scholars for dedication to the legal profession and public service.
Kevin is admitted to practice law in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. He practices before federal courts including the District of New Jersey, the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Eastern, Western, and Southern Districts of New York, as well as the Second and Third Circuit Courts of Appeals.
