Biography

I did not always know that I wanted to become an attorney. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in psychology, I was still searching for a meaningful career path. I decided to take time to explore my interests and moved to New York for a year. While there, I observed a law school class with a friend, an experience that sparked my interest in the law. That moment led me to prepare for the LSAT and ultimately enroll at Touro Law School.

Law school proved to be a transformative experience. The coursework, professors, and relationships challenged me to think critically about complex issues and view problems from multiple perspectives. Upon graduating, however, I remained uncertain about which area of law to pursue. I was drawn to many practice areas until an opportunity presented itself at a boutique law firm on Long Island that focused exclusively on family law. That position marked the beginning of my career in this field.

Practicing law in New York was demanding and shaped my professional foundation. Appearing before rigorous judges and working in a fast-paced environment taught me discipline, preparation, and respect for the legal process. Those early years instilled values I continue to carry with me in my practice today, including professionalism and appreciation for the responsibility attorneys hold within the justice system.

In 2014, I returned to Oklahoma following my divorce, accompanied by my Shiba Inu, Riley Marie. At that time, I was uncertain whether family law was still the right fit for me, so I explored personal injury law for about a year. That experience helped me gain perspective and ultimately reaffirmed that family law was where I felt most aligned. I returned to family law in 2015 with a renewed sense of purpose.

Since that time, I have continued to develop my litigation, negotiation, and legal writing skills through national training conferences and focused education on complex divorce matters, including business valuation issues. I am also certified as a mediator through the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, which supports my work in Family Law Mediation. Today, I practice Family Law and Family Law Mediation in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Bundy.

I understand that family law matters often involve deeply personal and emotional circumstances. My approach is centered on clear communication, respect, and practical guidance. I strive to help clients understand their options and navigate family conflicts with honesty and care, always mindful of the impact these legal issues have on their lives and families.

Q&A

I am a trial attorney, focused primarily on cases involving families, including divorce, child custody matters, adoptions and paternity cases. I have been appointed as a Guardian ad Litem in cases involving minor children. I also mediate disputes, and I have an active appellate practice.

Family law is a unique area of practice because of the emotional component associated with our cases. Our clients are going through one of the most difficult times of their lives, and because of that, they require a greater amount of guidance, understanding, and compassion. My training and background allow me to assist clients while they are going through this difficult time.

Clients often want to know how long the process will take and how much it will cost. These are difficult questions to answer given the number of factors at play, including the court's schedule and the behavior of the other side. While I cannot accurately answer those questions, I am able to give my clients steps they can take to lower the cost of litigation and move their case forward.

A mother who had lost custody of her two young boys hired me a month before her trial. With a limited amount of time to prepare, and only the evidence exchanged between the parties before my involvement, I was able to successfully try the issue to the Judge and get custody returned to my client.

There is a significant emotional component in family law cases. For me, the hardest cases are those involving minor children.

I was lucky to get a job out of law school at a boutique family law firm on Long Island, New York. It was small – only four attorneys – but we were mighty. We not only had an active litigation practice, but we also had a successful appellate practice. At this firm, I cultivated my love of writing and research, thanks to my mentor, Ruth Sovronsky. Her words never ceased to move me, and her dedication to her craft was a real inspiration.
My desire to practice in a courtroom did not come about until I moved to Oklahoma. I was again lucky to get a job at a family law firm focusing on litigation. Watching my colleagues, including Aaron Bundy, in the courtroom motivated me to learn the skills necessary to try issues to the court successfully.

In my free time, I enjoy traveling, spending time with my family (particularly my dog Riley), listening to The Grateful Dead, and practicing yoga, pilates, and meditation.
