Juan Manuel Baraona is a senior partner of the Firm and widely recognized in Chile as a leader in tax matters. Therefore, has unswervingly been ranked in top tier international rankings, named Though Leader and Senior Statesmen in Tax and Private Wealth.
He advises mostly domestic clients in personal and corporate tax planning, tax litigation and foreign investment structuring. Mr. Baraona earned his law degree at Universidad de Chile in 1963 and a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University in Boston in 1972. Prior to founding the firm, he served as a partner in the tax area of Langton Clarke (now EY).
Juan Manuel Baraona has been a professor of Economics and Tax Law and was head of the Law and Economics Department at Universidad de Chile for more than 20 years. As well, is director of the Tax Masters programme at the same university.
