Joshua D. Hofstetter

Joshua is a dedicated and passionate immigration attorney based in New York, New York, with Harris Beach Murtha. He is committed to providing valuable legal support to his clients. As a member of the Immigration Law Practice Team, Joshua collaborates with companies to develop effective strategies for hiring, transferring, and retaining talented non-U.S. professionals. He has extensive experience in handling non-immigrant visa petitions such as H-1B, L-1, E, TN, B-1, O-1, and P, as well as J-1 waivers. Joshua also focuses on employment-based green card options through PERM Labor Certification and other categories like EB-1, EB-2, and EB-3, including the National Interest Waiver and Physician National Interest Waiver sub-categories. Additionally, he assists individuals with family-based and individual immigration matters, including marriage-based visa petitions, adjustment of status, and naturalization applications.

Joshua's background in client advocacy includes experience with asylum, U-visas, VAWA petitions, DACA, and TPS. During his time at Fordham, he interned at the Immigration Rights Clinic, engaging in deportation and asylum cases with the Legal Aid Society’s Immigration Unit. Through the New Americans Campaign, Joshua supported underserved community members in the naturalization process, and he helped refugees apply for lawful permanent residency with the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society. Furthermore, Joshua has represented clients in fair hearings as a Public Benefits Initiative Advocate for Sanctuary for Families.

While studying law at the University of Glasgow, Joshua volunteered as a Generalist Adviser at Citizens Advice Scotland, where he provided free, confidential, and impartial advice on diverse issues such as immigration, employment law, housing, benefits, and debt relief.
