Biography
Joshua Hedrick has practiced criminal defense law in Tennessee since 2006. He possesses extensive trial experience, with particular focus on homicide cases. His work obtaining a new trial for and exoneration of Raynella Dossett Leath was featured on CBS’s 48 Hours (July 14, 2018, Season 30, Episode 54). He is dedicated to the cause of indigent defense.
He has successfully argued cases before the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals and the Tennessee Supreme Court and defended citizens against federal prosecutions in the Eastern District of Tennessee and in the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He is a member of the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys and the Knoxville Bar Association. In 2021, he was inducted into Fellowship of the Knoxville Bar Foundation and won the Massey-McGee Trial Advocacy Award from the Tennessee Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is selected to Mid-South Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers in America's Criminal Defense: General Practice Section and Criminal Defense: White Collar Crime Section. He has been a member of the Hamilton Burnett American Inn of Court since 2009.
Joshua earned his law degree from the Universty of Memphis College of Law in 2006, and holds an undergraduate in political science from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He is a Knoxville native and currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Heska Amuna Synagogue.
