Joseph V. Willey concentrates his practice in health care and health care litigation.
Joe has more than 30 years of experience in a wide range of health care matters, including Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement, government audits and federal and state fraud and abuse laws. He advises hospitals and other providers on compliance with federal anti-kickback and physician self-referral laws and represents providers in investigations and litigation under the False Claims Act. He has extensive experience in federal and state courts and administrative tribunals, including the Provider Reimbursement Review Board. In recent years, Joe has obtained more than $320 million in additional Medicare reimbursement for hospital clients through litigation and settlement of cases before the board.
Prior to joining the firm, Joe was Assistant Regional Counsel for the US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). At HHS, he concentrated in Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement and Medicaid State Plan compliance, and represented the agency in federal district and circuit courts and administrative hearings.
