Joseph P. Buttiglieri is a shareholder with Kemp Klein in Troy, Michigan. His practice focuses on Family Law and Litigation – Trusts and Estates, including probate litigation and estate administration, conservatorships, guardianships, wrongful death distributions, and mediation. He regularly represents individuals and families in contested probate and family law matters and works with clients to address complex issues involving trusts, estates, and fiduciary responsibilities.
Mr. Buttiglieri is a frequent speaker and writer on probate litigation, estate administration, and related topics. He has presented at numerous legal education programs, including the annual ICLE Probate and Estate Planning Seminar and other ICLE programs attended by attorneys throughout Michigan. He has also spoken for the Wayne County Probate Court Guardian Ad Litem seminar on probate litigation and for the Macomb County Probate Bar Association on creditors’ claims in estate administration.
In addition to his litigation and advisory work, Mr. Buttiglieri has served as a mediator in many matters involving probate and family disputes. He became a certified mediator in 2012. For several years, he served on the Michigan Supreme Court Subcommittee on Standard Jury Instructions for Probate Court, contributing to the development of guidance used in probate proceedings across the state.
