Biography
A skilled and experienced litigator, Joe’s practice at Lewis Babcock includes eminent domain, business disputes and fiduciary negligence. He also represents clients in appeals.
He’s an affiliate member of the Owners’ Counsel of America, an invitation-only national group of eminent domain attorneys who represent landowners.Joe came to Lewis Babcock after serving as a prosecutor in the Fifth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office. He prosecuted a range of cases, including financial crimes, drug cases, homicides and animal cruelty. He also represented the state in appeals. He led a countywide Animal Cruelty Prosecution Task Force and coordinated with Columbia’s Homeless Court in the first project of its type in South Carolina.
A native of Columbia, Joe worked for a community-based public policy and electoral advocacy organization before earning his Juris Doctor at the University of South Carolina School of Law. He remains active in the community and serves on the South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center Board of Directors.
