José Costa Pinto

José Costa Pinto is the founding partner of Costa Pinto.

José is a very experienced corporate and commercial lawyer with strong business acumen, result of his international background and positions occupied.

Before founding Costa Pinto in 2013, José worked for Uría Menéndez – Proença de Carvalho and Simmons & Simmons. He was also President of the National Association of Portuguese Young Lawyers (ANJAP) between 2014 and 2018. Since then, José has been actively involved in the activities of AIJA and UIA on an international level. Nationally José is a member of the Board of the (i) Portuguese Law Firms Association; (ii) Portuguese Institute of Corporate Governance; and (iii) Portuguese Observatory of Compliance and Regulatory.

José focuses his practice on cross-border and domestic M&A and private equity deals. He also advises foreign clients with the establishment of branches and on inbound investment in Portugal, as well as assisting domestic entities with local deals.

He is the author and co-author of several tecnical articles and often invited to be a speaker at conferences and public events.

José teaches at ISEG - Lisbon School of Economics & Management. He teaches Corporate Governance in the Master’s Degree on Finance, Accounting and Law & Management.
