Jordan Cohen is a Toronto real estate lawyer at Loopstra Nixon and a graduate of Osgoode Hall Law School. He has been practicing law since 1982, with a focus on Real Estate Law and corporate/commercial matters.
Jordan advises clients on the acquisition, financing, leasing and sale of commercial, industrial and residential properties across Ontario and throughout Canada. His Real Estate Law practice also includes representing financial institutions in secured lending transactions and enforcement matters involving both real estate and corporate assets.
In addition to his real estate practice, Jordan acts for entrepreneurs, private companies and Canadian subsidiaries of U.S. businesses in the establishment, organization and financing of their operations. He regularly assists clients with business acquisitions, corporate structuring and financing arrangements, and works closely with Canadian and U.S. lenders and professional advisors on cross-border matters.
Jordan is one of the firm’s primary contacts for Mackrell International, a global legal network with member firms in more than 60 countries. Through this network, Loopstra Nixon is able to assist clients with multi-jurisdictional transactions and connect them with trusted legal counsel in foreign jurisdictions when international legal matters arise.
He has been active in the Ontario legal community for many years, including serving as a member and officer of the Real Property Executive of the Ontario Bar Association. Jordan has also spoken at continuing legal education programs organized by the Ontario Bar Association and the Law Society of Ontario on real estate-related topics.
Jordan is the past President of the Ontario Chapter of the Canadian Associates of Ben-Gurion University and currently serves on its national Board of Directors.
Jordan was recognized in the 2022, 2023 and 2024 editions of The Best Lawyers in Canada for his work in Real Estate Law.
Outside of his legal practice, Jordan is an avid tournament bridge player and a Sapphire Life Master in the American Contract Bridge League. He has won both Canadian and North American bridge championships. Jordan and his wife have three married children and are proud grandparents of two boys.
