Biography

Jon Harris is a trusted counselor to employers in all aspects of their labor and employment law needs. He also spends a significant amount of his practice defending companies in data privacy class actions. Jon has gained repeated recognition for his responsiveness and problem-solving prowess. Rather than a one-size-fits-all approach, Jon tailors solutions to a client’s business needs and risk tolerance. Jon is known as a strategic advisor and zealous advocate in employment matters, including litigation and appeals in courts across the country. In addition to defending single-plaintiff lawsuits, Jon also represents employers in class and collective actions. On data privacy matters, he has utilized his extensive class experience to deploy unique strategies to bring those matters to a favorable conclusion.

In his two decades of practice, Jon has obtained numerous successes, both in federal and state court. More than 100 cases can be found on Westlaw or Lexis, where he led a case to a successful conclusion for his clients. Jon is not afraid to represent employers in cases involving challenging facts, and he enjoys the opportunity to take a case to trial.

Jon is a frequent speaker on topics relating to all types of employment issues, and he works with clients on preventive strategies to avoid discrimination, retaliation and other employment claims. After graduating from the Washington University School of Law, from 2000 to 2001, Jon served as a law clerk for the Honorable E. Richard Weber, a United States District Court Judge in the Eastern District of Missouri. Jon is a Fellow of the Nashville Bar Foundation and a Trustee of the Nashville Bar Foundation. He has been recognized by the publications The Best Lawyers and Super Lawyers, and his peers have rated him as “AV Preeminent” in Martindale-Hubbell.

At his prior firm, Jon served as office managing shareholder for five years. He was known for team building and fostering an environment of mutual respect. Jon loves taking his family on adventures overseas, exploring new wines, and listening to vinyl.

Jon is also honored to lead Jackson Lewis' Disability/Neurodiversity resource group that supports the professional and business development of JL attorneys with all types of disabilities, including physical and mental disabilities of any kind.
