Jonathan Greenlee

Jonathan Greenlee is a criminal defense attorney with The Eichner Law Firm in Denver, Colorado. His practice focuses on Criminal Defense: General Practice, including misdemeanor and felony matters, jury trials, appeals, investigations, and post-charge litigation in courts throughout Colorado. Jonathan represents clients facing allegations ranging from DUI and domestic violence to homicide, white-collar offenses, sexual assault allegations, and complex felony prosecutions.

Before joining The Eichner Law Firm, Jonathan served as a senior public defender in Arapahoe County, Colorado, where he handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases. His experience includes litigation involving major drug offenses, violent crimes, robbery, attempted murder, homicide, securities fraud, and cases involving adult and child sexual assault allegations. He has litigated complex evidentiary and mental health issues, including competency proceedings, mental condition defenses, and NGRI matters.

Jonathan has extensive courtroom experience and has tried more than forty jury trials to verdict. His work has involved challenging forensic and technical evidence in areas including DNA analysis, bloodstain pattern analysis, DUI toxicology, accident reconstruction, ballistics, and manner and cause of death findings. He has cross-examined expert witnesses and presented expert testimony in criminal proceedings across Colorado.

After his work as a public defender, Jonathan practiced at a criminal defense firm in Boulder before joining The Eichner Law Firm. In addition to trial representation, he advises clients on collateral consequences connected to criminal allegations and investigations, including professional licensing concerns, student conduct and Title IX proceedings, restraining orders, driver’s license administrative matters, and issues involving state regulatory agencies.

Jonathan represents clients in Denver and throughout Colorado in state and municipal courts. Many matters are resolved through negotiations, pretrial litigation, or investigations that result in reduced charges, dismissals, or decisions not to file charges. He also regularly represents clients at jury trial in high-stakes criminal cases.

• Obtained a complete acquittal for a police officer facing domestic violence charges in Jefferson County related to a citizen’s arrest following an alleged assault.
• Secured dismissals before trial in numerous domestic violence cases in Denver, Jefferson, and Arapahoe counties.
• Represented a client facing ten allegations of unlawful sexual conduct that resulted in an acquittal on all ten charges following a two-week jury trial in Boulder, Colorado. The case was retried after the first jury was unable to reach a verdict, resulting in a second not guilty verdict.
• Won a complete acquittal at jury trial in Boulder County on misdemeanor and felony rioting and property damage charges arising from the Spring 2021 University Hill Riot.
• Obtained an acquittal on an attempted murder charge, with convictions limited to lesser offenses, in a case involving a shootout during an attempted bank robbery in Arapahoe County.
• Won suppression of evidence resulting in dismissal of all charges in a Mesa County drug case involving allegations of possession with intent to distribute more than 300 pounds of marijuana and other controlled substances.
• Represented a woman charged with perjury related to a red flag petition involving the police officer who killed her son.
• Represented a client in a case that resulted in the dismissal of sexual assault charges connected to the investigation into his girlfriend’s disappearance.
• Obtained complete acquittals in multiple Boulder County domestic violence jury trials involving claims of self-defense.
• Won acquittals in two Boulder County jury trials involving traffic charges related to collisions with a pedestrian and cyclist.
• Won acquittal on criminal mischief and trespass charges in Arapahoe County in a case involving allegations of a coerced confession.
• Obtained acquittal on first- and second-degree assault charges, with convictions only on lesser offenses, in Arapahoe County.
• Won acquittal on all charges for a client facing felony DUI allegations in Arapahoe County.
• Obtained a full acquittal at jury trial for a client charged with DUI who declined chemical testing in Arapahoe County.
• Won an appeal and secured a new trial for a client convicted of misdemeanor offenses in Arapahoe County based on prosecutorial misconduct during closing arguments.
• Negotiated dismissal of a felony sexual assault on a child charge during preliminary hearing proceedings in Adams County.
