John Paul Hanna

Sometimes referred to as "the Godfather of Condominiums", or "the man who wrote the book", John Hanna has authored many texts and articles on condominiums and other common interest developments; has created more than 3000 owners' associations, both residential and commercial; has appeared before scores of planning commissions, city councils and boards of supervisors in California; has appeared on television and in radio broadcasts on legal topics, has authored legislation affecting the creation of subdivisions and condominiums, and is the senior partner in a firm that conducts a practice that includes land use, entitlements, creation, operation and up-dating documents of residential and commercial associations , leasing, resort and shopping center development and management, complex mixed-use projects and continuing care retirement communities. Mr. Hanna has testified as an expert witness on real estate matters, and has been retained by a number of cities to review governing documents for common interest developments and mixed-use projects. The firm is well respected for its experience in dealing with the California Department of Real Estate, particularly with respect to processing and obtaining public reports..One of Mr. Hanna's books (Homeowners Associations) has recently been published in China as part of an effort on the part of the Chinese government to educate its rapidly expanding population of homeowners.
