John L. Littrell is a trial attorney with Bienert Katzman Littrell Williams LLP in San Clemente, California. John represents clients in high-stakes criminal and civil matters in state and federal courts. His white-collar defense and investigations practice includes fraud allegations, public corruption and bribery matters, False Claims Act litigation, export and international trade issues, anti-kickback allegations, and regulatory enforcement proceedings. He regularly advises clients operating in highly regulated industries, including health care, government contracting, and financial services. With more than two decades of courtroom and litigation experience, John has negotiated with the United States Department of Justice as well as state and local prosecuting agencies in a wide range of criminal and regulatory matters. He has obtained dismissals and reductions of charges through strategic motion practice and constitutional challenges. His work has included successful challenges to unlawful searches and interrogations that resulted in the suppression of evidence and dismissal of criminal cases.
John has extensive trial and appellate experience in both California and federal courts. He has handled matters before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also represented clients in post-conviction proceedings involving claims of prosecutorial misconduct and ineffective assistance of counsel, obtaining reversals of serious felony convictions and lengthy prison sentences.
In addition to his criminal defense practice, John represents businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and other complex civil disputes. Having tried more than twenty cases to verdict, he prepares each matter with a detailed and trial-focused approach designed to identify legal and factual issues early in the litigation process.
