John has extensive trial and appellate experience in both California and federal courts. He has handled matters before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, the California Courts of Appeal, and the United States Supreme Court. He has also represented clients in post-conviction proceedings involving claims of prosecutorial misconduct and ineffective assistance of counsel, obtaining reversals of serious felony convictions and lengthy prison sentences.
In addition to his criminal defense practice, John represents businesses and individuals in commercial litigation and other complex civil disputes. Having tried more than twenty cases to verdict, he prepares each matter with a detailed and trial-focused approach designed to identify legal and factual issues early in the litigation process. His experience in the courtroom provides valuable insight when negotiating resolutions, managing risk, and advocating for clients at every stage of a case.
