Joel Guberman is an immigration lawyer with more than 40 years of experience advising individuals, businesses, and organizations on Canadian and U.S. immigration matters. Based in Toronto, Ontario, Joel is certified by the Law Society of Ontario in Immigration and Citizenship Law. Before joining Guberman Appleby Immigration Lawyers, he was a founding partner of a Toronto immigration law firm and later served as Chair of the Immigration practice at one of the Big Four accounting firms.
Joel represents clients in a wide range of immigration law matters, including corporate immigration, cross-border business mobility, work permits, treaty investor and treaty trader applications, and skilled worker immigration. His practice includes advising multinational companies, institutions, executives, and individuals on immigration strategies related to international business operations and global workforce mobility. He is licensed to practise immigration law in both Canada and the United States.
Over the course of his career, Joel has been recognized in legal and professional publications focused on immigration law and corporate immigration matters. He has also been included in Best Lawyers in Canada for immigration law since 2006. Chambers Global has noted his long-standing presence within the Canadian immigration law community.
Joel regularly lectures and participates in seminars, panels, and symposiums on Canadian and U.S. immigration law. In addition to presenting across Canada and the United States, he has spoken internationally on immigration law topics in South America, India, China, Japan, Singapore, and throughout Europe.
