Joseph Piligian focuses on complex business disputes and ESOP class action defense.
Joseph is a commercial litigator with experience in state and federal courts across the country. Joseph’s commercial litigation practice includes defending antitrust claims, securities claims, shareholder disputes, business torts, disputes under Delaware law, and fiduciary liability claims. He has represented a variety of clients—from Fortune 500 companies to individuals—through all phases of trial court litigation. Joseph’s ESOP litigation practice focuses on defending selling shareholders, plan fiduciaries, board members, and valuation firms in disputes related to ESOPs brought by plan participants and the Department of Labor.
Joseph received his B.A. from Notre Dame and his J.D. from the University of Michigan, where he served as the Managing Editor of Michigan Law Review. Prior to joining MVA, Joseph clerked for Vice Chancellor J. Travis Laster on the Delaware Court of Chancery and began his career at Williams & Connolly LLP in Washington, D.C. Joseph also has experience in education, supply chain management, and reality television production.
