Jessica Chan is an associate in Torkin Manes LLP’s Corporate/Commercial Group in Toronto, Ontario. Her Corporate Law practice focuses on acquisitions, dispositions, reorganizations, private equity transactions, and strategic commercial arrangements. She advises businesses on a broad range of corporate, operational, and governance matters, including shareholders agreements, limited partnership agreements, and commercial contracts.
Jessica works closely with clients through all stages of a transaction, from initial planning and structuring to negotiation and completion. She assists with share and asset transactions and provides practical guidance tailored to each client’s business objectives and operational needs. Her clients include manufacturers, distributors, brokers, developers, start-ups, and mid-sized companies operating across a range of industries.
In addition to transactional matters, Jessica advises clients on day-to-day business and commercial law issues. Her background in litigation and real estate law allows her to provide well-rounded guidance on structuring transactions, managing risk, and addressing business disputes.
Jessica also brings valuable industry insight from her previous career in publishing and media. She earned a Master of Publishing from Simon Fraser University and served as Editor-in-Chief of a national magazine for seven years. Her experience working with organizations in the media, publishing, fashion, information technology, and data management sectors informs her practical approach to advising clients on business and commercial matters.
Having lived and worked abroad, Jessica offers clients an international perspective on conducting business across jurisdictions and navigating the considerations that foreign businesses may encounter when operating in Ontario.
