Upon graduating from law school, Jerry joined the Tax Division of the United States Department of Justice as a trial attorney. He became an associate at Baldwin & Haspel in 1964 and made partner in 1966. Jerry’s experience includes extensive foreign travel in connection with the representation of U. S. based clients doing business in Canada, Europe, South America, Asia and the Middle East.
Jerry was a Member of the Adjunct Faculty of Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law teaching Taxation (1971-76) and Louisiana Probate Procedure (1987-1996). In 2001, Loyola University of New Orleans College of Law named him the recipient of the St. Ives Award, the law school’s highest honor for an alumnus.
Jerry is Certified in Estate Planning & Administration and Tax Law by the Louisiana State Board of Legal Specialization. He has been listed in the Best Lawyers in America publication in the areas of Business Organizations, Closely Held Companies and Family Businesses Law, Non-Profit/Charities Law, Tax Law and Trusts & Estates since 1983. He is also recognized as a Louisiana Super Lawyer since 2007 for his work in Business/Corporate, Estate Planning & Probate and Tax. Jerry was most recently named to New Orleans Magazine’s “Top Lawyers of New Orleans” list for Non-Profit/Charities Law, Tax Law and Trusts and Estates. In addition, he has been recognized as “Top 50” in his field for Business/Corporate law in Louisiana and was named “New Orleans Best Lawyers Tax Law Lawyer of the Year” in 2012.
