Jeremy Syrtash is the Head of Medical Malpractice Litigation at Diamond & Diamond Lawyers LLP in Toronto, Ontario. His practice focuses on medical malpractice litigation and Health Care Law, representing individuals and families in complex negligence claims involving hospitals, physicians, nurses, and other health care providers.
Jeremy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honours (Magna Cum Laude) from Yeshiva University in New York City in 2010 before obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa in 2013. He completed his articles at a Canadian medical malpractice litigation firm and was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014.
For more than a decade, Jeremy has acted as counsel and co-counsel in medical malpractice matters across Canada, including claims involving pediatric and obstetrical negligence, delayed diagnoses, surgical errors, and wrongful death allegations. He has represented clients and their families through all stages of litigation and understands the personal and financial challenges that often accompany serious medical injuries.
As a civil litigator practising in medical negligence and Health Care Law, Jeremy works closely with clients to guide them through complex legal and medical issues. His prior experience as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) contributes to his understanding of the day-to-day realities faced by individuals living with disabilities and those requiring ongoing care.
Jeremy has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Court of King’s Bench of Alberta, the Court of King’s Bench of Saskatchewan, and the Court of King’s Bench of Manitoba. He is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Bar Association (OBA), the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association (OTLA), the Toronto Lawyers Association (TLA), and The Advocates’ Society.
In addition to his litigation practice, Jeremy regularly presents on topics relating to medical negligence and Health Care Law for legal professionals, physicians, nurses, and hospital staff. He is also a contributor to the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association Medical Malpractice Newsletter, where he provides commentary and case summaries on recent developments in Canadian medical negligence law.
Outside of his legal practice, Jeremy enjoys spending time with his family and following Toronto sports, including the Maple Leafs, Raptors, and Blue Jays.
