Jenifer Chilcott is Counsel in Farris LLP’s Victoria, British Columbia office, practicing in the areas of technology law, Internet law, intellectual property, commercial law, privacy and Corporate Law.
With more than 25 years of experience in private practice and as in-house counsel, Jenifer advises businesses, public sector organizations and educational institutions on a broad range of legal and commercial matters. Her background includes senior executive and in-house counsel roles with international technology companies, including Alcatel, Bell Canada International, Newbridge Networks and Mitel. Having worked extensively in both Canada and Asia, she brings practical insight into the legal and business considerations involved in domestic and cross-border operations, technology transactions and commercial relationships.
Jenifer assists clients with the negotiation, drafting and review of agreements related to the commercialization of technology and related services. Her work includes software and technology licensing agreements, technology acquisition and infrastructure agreements, distribution and value-added reseller agreements, technology development agreements, strategic alliance and technology transfer arrangements, confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements, product support and maintenance agreements, and escrow agreements.
She also advises public and private sector clients on privacy and data-related matters, including compliance issues involving technology platforms, digital services and Internet-based operations.
In addition to her legal practice, Jenifer is a trained sommelier. Prior to relocating to British Columbia in 2008, she served as a part-time instructor in the Sommelier certification program at Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario.
