Jeffrey P. Rust is a partner in Rivkin Radler LLP’s Health Services and Corporate Practice Groups in Uniondale, New York. His practice focuses on Health Care Law and corporate matters, advising health care organizations, businesses, and lenders on transactional, regulatory, and operational issues. Jeff works with clients to structure and implement business arrangements while addressing the legal and compliance considerations that affect health care providers and commercial enterprises.
Jeff counsels health care providers and business clients on a wide range of matters, including joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, financing transactions, governance issues, employment matters, shareholder and partnership agreements, contract drafting and negotiation, dispute resolution, and the formation and operation of for-profit and not-for-profit entities. He also represents private lenders in connection with business and mortgage lending transactions and assists with loan workouts involving distressed, delinquent, or non-performing commercial loans.
His Health Care Law practice includes representing hospitals, health systems, and multi-specialty and single-specialty medical practices in transactional and employment-related matters. Jeff also advises clients on regulatory compliance issues, including federal and state fraud and abuse laws, reimbursement disputes, HIPAA compliance, physician self-referral and Stark Law considerations, and other complex legal and business issues affecting the health care industry.
In addition, Jeff has experience assisting closely held and family-owned businesses with succession planning and addressing disputes among business owners. His work frequently involves helping clients navigate both the business and legal aspects of organizational transitions and long-term planning.
