Jeffrey M. Montpetit is a shareholder at SiebenCarey whose practice focuses on complex personal injury, wrongful death, medical and professional malpractice, civil rights, police misconduct, product liability, premises liability, trucking and automobile collisions, insurance litigation, and other high-stakes injury claims. For more than 27 years, he has represented individuals and families facing life-changing injuries, helping them pursue justice against insurance companies, corporations, healthcare systems, and government entities.
After earning his law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law (previously William Mitchell College of Law) in 1998, Jeffrey joined SiebenCarey and has spent his career building an extensive trial practice. He is admitted to practice in Minnesota, Wisconsin, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin, and the Seventh and Eighth Circuit Courts of Appeals. His courtroom experience includes jury trials in both state and federal courts throughout Minnesota, Wisconsin, and South Dakota, as well as appellate advocacy involving constitutional rights and the Minnesota Human Rights Act.
Jeffrey has secured significant verdicts and settlements in complex personal injury, medical negligence, and civil rights cases, including matters involving catastrophic injuries, jail suicide, and deliberate indifference. His approach combines thorough preparation, compelling advocacy, and a commitment to ensuring every client has their story fully heard.
His accomplishments have earned recognition from both peers and the legal profession. In 2025, Jeffrey was inducted as a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, an invitation extended to fewer than one percent of attorneys in each state and province. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and has been recognized as a National Trial Lawyers Top 100 Trial Lawyer since 2022. Jeffrey has been selected to Best Lawyers in America® for Plaintiff Personal Injury Litigation since 2018, has been named a Super Lawyers honoree every year since 2013 after previously being recognized as a Rising Star from 1999 through 2012, and was twice named Minnesota Lawyer's Attorney of the Year, earning the publication's Circle of Excellence distinction.
A native of Woodbury, Minnesota, Jeffrey lives in the Twin Cities with his wife and three children. Outside of his legal practice, he supports Ronald McDonald House Charities and the medical mission of St. Francis of Assisi and enjoys spending time outdoors with his family.
