Biography
Jeff is an experienced energy lawyer who advises clients on a broad range of matters, including energy project development and midstream natural gas handling, transportation and treating arrangements. His energy project work mostly involves all aspects of liquefied natural gas (LNG), gas-to-liquids (GTL), pipeline, petrochemical, independent power and water, cogeneration, and hydroelectric projects.
Prior to joining Lawson Lundell, Jeff worked for Qatar Petroleum (QP, now QatarEnergy), ultimately as General Counsel, and is recognised for his Middle East and other international experience. At QP, he managed the Legal Department and directly handled many significant legal activities on behalf of both QP and the State of Qatar, such as the development and financing of major energy projects. Jeff previously practiced law in Calgary with two major law firms and an international pipeline company.
Jeff also has experience with Canadian private equity transactions, including limited partnerships and other limited liability structures, corporations, financings and mergers and acquisitions, often involving multiple jurisdictions.
For many years, Jeff was a sessional instructor in the Faculty of Law, University of Calgary, and prior to that in the Faculty of Management. For several years Jeff chaired the International Business Committees of the Calgary Chamber of Commerce, the Calgary Economic Development Authority and the South Alberta Branch of the Canadian Bar Association. He currently sits on several boards of not-for-profit entities.
