Jeff also has a vibrant appellate practice, and has represented clients in various appeals in the Sixth, Seventh, Eleventh and Federal circuits.
Outside of the courtroom, Jeff advises on patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret, privacy and electronic security matters. He also manages brand strategy that goes beyond securing patent, trademark and copyright protection and extends into making critical decisions early in the process to maximize coverage while minimizing cost. Jeff knows, from nearly two decades of experience, that properly protecting his clients’ IP and proprietary technology is critical to realizing the full potential for ROI. Active in pro bono intellectual property matters and civil and criminal claims, Jeff’s first pro bono assignment in 1998, as a summer associate at a prior firm in Chicago, was to assist in a challenge of lifetime insurance policy caps for AIDS treatment on behalf of two anonymous plaintiffs and Lambda Legal Defense Fund.
