Jeff Langlois

Jeff Langlois, a partner at JFK Law LLP, is based in Vancouver but represents First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities across Canada, with a particular emphasis on Western and Northern Canada. He maintains a varied practice – advocating for his clients in the courts, before regulatory tribunals and at negotiation tables – and supporting his clients in advancing their decision-making authority, the protection of land and resources and the meaningful implementation of historic and modern treaties.

In his litigation practice, Jeff acts as counsel in civil, constitutional, and regulatory proceedings at every level of court, from judicial reviews of government decision-making to treaty rights infringement claims and interventions. His litigation practice is grounded in the recognition, protection, and enforcement of Aboriginal and treaty rights.

Jeff routinely represents communities responding to resource development and infrastructure on their lands and waters — advising on Crown consultation and accommodation processes, appearing in environmental assessments and regulatory hearings, and negotiating impact benefit agreements that secure meaningful participation and lasting value for communities.

As a negotiator, Jeff supports communities in engaging with federal, provincial and territorial governments, with an emphasis on the negotiation, interpretation and implementation of modern treaties in Yukon, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Jeff also represents clients seeking government recognition of and respect for their Aboriginal and treaty rights – including in relation to Aboriginal title, rights and self-governance.

Jeff is called to the bar in British Columbia (2009), Alberta (2016), Yukon (2018), Saskatchewan (2020), the Northwest Territories (2026), and Nunavut (2026). He is ranked by Chambers Canada for the representation of Indigenous peoples, recognized as a Future Star by Benchmark Litigation Canada (2026), and is a Lexpert-ranked lawyer who has also been recognized by Best Lawyers in Canada. He holds an LL.B. from the University of British Columbia and a B.A. in History from the University of Calgary.
