Biography

Jedediah "Jed" Main is an Orlando-area Florida Bar Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer and the founder of The Main Law Firm, P.L., serving Orlando and all of Central Florida from offices in Winter Park, Lake Mary, Mt. Dora, and Clermont. He represents people seriously injured in commercial vehicle and semi-truck collisions, wrongful death, and other catastrophic injury matters throughout the region. Board certification in Civil Trial Law is held by only a small percentage of Florida attorneys and reflects substantial jury-trial experience, peer review by judges and fellow attorneys, and successful completion of a rigorous examination. Jed is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA), an invitation-only association of experienced trial lawyers, and the Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, which is limited to attorneys who have served as lead counsel in cases resulting in verdicts or settlements of $2 million or more. As a member of the Academy of Truck Accident Attorneys, he concentrates on the regulatory and evidentiary issues unique to commercial motor vehicle litigation, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulation violations, hours-of-service and electronic logging data, and broker and shipper liability. In addition to his recognition by Best Lawyers in America, Jed has been selected to Florida Super Lawyers and named to Florida Trend's "Legal Elite." The National Trial Lawyers has continuously recognized him in its Top 100 since 2021, as a Top 10 Trucking Trial Lawyer in Florida since 2022, a Top 10 Car Accident Lawyer since 2023, and a Top 25 Motor Vehicle Trial Lawyer since 2024. He holds the AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest peer-review rating for legal ability and ethical standards. A graduate of Florida State University College of Law (J.D., with honors) and Florida State University (B.S., Finance, cum laude, and B.S., Insurance/Risk Management, cum laude), Jed began his career as a prosecutor with the Office of the State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, followed by insurance-defense litigation in downtown Orlando. Over more than two decades of practice, he has worked on all sides of the courtroom. He founded The Main Law Firm in 2010 to put that combined experience to work for injured people, using his understanding of how insurance companies evaluate and defend claims to advocate for the people they once worked against. Jed is actively engaged in the plaintiff trial bar at the state level. Within the Florida Justice Association, he serves on the Board of Directors and the PAC Board of Trustees, is Past-Chair of the Solo and Small Firm Section, and serves on the Legislative Committee, including its Trucking, Medical Damages, and Automobile/Bad Faith subcommittees, as well as the Membership, Awards, and Eagle Committees. He served as faculty at the FJA's Al J. Cone Trial Advocacy Institute in 2024 and 2025, presenting a demonstration on the cross-examination of defense expert witnesses. He is a two-time Bronze EAGLE Award recipient. Jed personally oversees every case in his firm and gives every client direct access to him throughout their case. He is admitted to The Florida Bar and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

Q&A

I'm a Florida Bar Board Certified Civil Trial Lawyer, and my firm focuses on serious and catastrophic injury cases, with a particular concentration on commercial truck and semi-truck collisions, wrongful death, and other life-altering injuries across Central Florida.

What makes my practice unique comes down to two things. First, my background: I started my career as a prosecutor and then spent years defending insurance companies before I ever represented an injured person. That means I understand exactly how the other side evaluates, defends, and tries to minimize claims, and I use that insight for my clients instead of against them.

Second, the way I run my firm. I personally oversee every case, and every client has my cell phone number and direct access to me throughout their case. People going through the aftermath of a serious accident don't get handed off to a case manager or treated like a file number. They work directly with me. I built the firm that way on purpose, because I believe the people facing the hardest moments of their lives deserve a lawyer who actually knows them and fights for them.

A few questions come up again and again:

"Do I have to pay anything upfront?" No. I handle these cases on a contingency-fee basis, which means there are no upfront costs and no fee unless I recover compensation for you. I explain exactly how it works, in writing, before you ever hire me.

"What should I do right after a serious accident?" Get medical attention immediately, even if you think you're fine, because adrenaline masks injuries and gaps in treatment are the first thing insurance companies use to devalue a claim. And be very careful about giving any statement to the other side's insurer before you talk to a lawyer.

"Why do I need a lawyer who focuses on trucking cases?" Because commercial truck cases are governed by federal regulations that don't apply to ordinary car wrecks, and the evidence, like the truck's electronic data and the driver's logs, can disappear within days if it isn't legally preserved. These cases require fast action and specific knowledge.

"Are you actually going to be the one handling my case?" Yes. That's the whole point of how I built my firm.

One of the most meaningful matters I handled involved an insurance company that refused to deal fairly with a seriously injured person's claim. Insurers are obligated to act in good faith, and when they don't, they can be held responsible beyond the limits of the policy. We were prepared to take the case all the way through trial, and that willingness to try a case, rather than simply accept whatever the insurer offers, is often what makes the difference for a client. Cases like that are a reminder of why I do this work: to hold powerful companies accountable when they treat injured people as numbers rather than human beings.

Past results do not guarantee similar outcomes; every case depends on its own facts.

The biggest challenge is the imbalance of power. Insurance companies and trucking companies have enormous resources, teams of lawyers, and investigators who are often working a serious crash within hours, sometimes before the injured person has even left the hospital. They are building their defense while my client is still in shock.

In commercial vehicle cases specifically, critical evidence, electronic control module data, driver logs, dashcam footage, maintenance records, can be lost or overwritten very quickly. Part of the challenge, and the reason early involvement matters so much, is moving fast to preserve that evidence before it disappears.

The other ongoing challenge is the human side. My clients are often going through the worst experience of their lives. Part of my job is the legal fight, but another part is carrying the burden for them so they can focus on healing.

My path shaped my perspective. As a prosecutor, I saw the impact that serious harm has on real people and their families. Then, working on the insurance-defense side, I saw how claims are evaluated and defended from the inside, and I saw that the people who had been hurt were often at a real disadvantage against the companies and insurers on the other side.

That contrast is ultimately what drew me to representing injured people. I realized I could take everything I had learned about how the other side operates and use it to level the playing field for individuals and families who would otherwise be overwhelmed. That's the work I find genuinely meaningful.

Outside of the practice, my family comes first, and time with my wife Kiersten is what keeps me grounded. I'm also deeply involved in the legal profession and my community. I serve on the Board of Directors and the PAC Board of Trustees of the Florida Justice Association, and I'm involved in several committees, including its work on trucking and automobile safety legislation, because I care about the law that shapes these cases, not just the cases themselves.

I also stay active and believe in giving back locally, supporting organizations throughout Central Florida that help people in need. Staying engaged, both physically and in the community, is important to how I keep perspective and energy for demanding work.

If you or someone you love has been seriously injured, the most important things you can do are get medical care, be cautious about talking to insurance companies, and reach out to a lawyer early, especially in a trucking or commercial vehicle case where evidence can disappear quickly. The consultation is free, and there's no fee unless I recover for you.

More than anything, I want people to know that they don't have to face this alone or feel like just another case. When you work with me, you get me, and I will fight to make sure you're treated fairly and get the care and compensation you deserve.
