Jeb Burton

Jeb U. Burton is the President of The Burton Law Firm, based in Sacramento, California. His practice centers on Business Organizations (including LLCs and Partnerships), Tax Law, Trusts and Estates, Litigation – Trusts and Estates, and Litigation and Controversy – Tax. Mr. Burton’s work includes advanced estate and tax planning for domestic and international matters, business and investment structure and governance, exit planning, asset protection strategies, and business succession planning.

Mr. Burton is admitted to practice law in California and Nevada. He is a Certified Specialist in Tax Law and a Certified Specialist in Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law, as designated by the State Bar of California. He is also registered as a Certified Specialist in Taxation Law and Estate Planning with the Nevada Bar Association. He earned his Juris Doctor from King Hall at the University of California, Davis, and completed his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.

Mr. Burton has been selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers each year since 2018 and was previously recognized as a Rising Star for four consecutive years. Throughout his career, Mr. Burton has represented clients on a wide range of complex legal matters. His representation includes estate, tax, and business planning for local and regional business owners, as well as advising high-net-worth individuals, multinational companies, non-governmental organizations, and Fortune 500 executives on domestic and international legal issues. He regularly presents at local, national, and international programs for attorneys, CPAs, and other professionals on topics involving tax law, business succession planning, international law, and trusts and estates.

Mr. Burton is a member of IR Global, where he serves on the Tax Steering Committee. He has served as President of the Sacramento Estate Planning Council, Chair of the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce, and Northern California Forum Leader for Wealth Counsel. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the State Bar of California, as well as the Sacramento County Bar Association, where he previously served as Chair of the Tax Section. He also served for eight years on the Yolo County Planning Commission, including a term as Chair.

In addition to his legal practice, Mr. Burton is a member of the West Sacramento Rotary and serves on the boards of several nonprofit organizations. Mr. Burton and The Burton Law Firm are members of the Roseville Chamber of Commerce and the West Sacramento Chamber of Commerce.
