Biography
Jay D. Rosenblum is a senior lawyer with Sutin, Thayer & Browne APC in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the firm from 2000 through 2017. Jay focuses his practice on Corporate Law and Mergers and Acquisitions Law, advising businesses and individuals on transactions, organizational structure, succession planning, estate planning, and philanthropic legal matters throughout New Mexico.
Jay’s professional background includes extensive experience with mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and business planning for closely held companies and family-owned enterprises. He regularly works with clients on long-term planning strategies designed to address ownership transitions, charitable goals, and operational considerations.
In 2017, the State Bar of New Mexico’s Business Law Section honored Jay as Business Lawyer of the Year. In 2023 and 2024, Best Lawyers recognized him as Lawyer of the Year in Mergers and Acquisitions. Jay is also a recipient of the Zia Award, which is presented annually to distinguished alumni of the University of New Mexico. Throughout his career, he has served on numerous charitable and philanthropic boards.
Outside of his legal practice, Jay is an accomplished musician and plays bass for New Mexico’s western swing band, the Curio Cowboys, as well as related swing and country groups. The Curio Cowboys received New Mexico Music Awards for Best Instrumental Songs in 2017 and 2020.
