Jason Campbell is a Partner at the NC Eminent Domain Law Firm, a division of the Law Offices of James Scott Farrin, where he focuses his practice on the protection of property owners’ rights. Since joining the firm in 2013, he has brought a depth of experience and a longstanding commitment to helping individuals navigate complex condemnation matters.
Originally from West Virginia, Jason developed an early appreciation for the importance of property rights through a personal family experience involving eminent domain. That moment left a lasting impression and continues to inform his perspective today: for many people, property is deeply personal and worth protecting.
Jason earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science, with a minor in Economics, from Wayne State University. He went on to receive his JD from the University of Michigan Law School, where he gained valuable experience clerking for both the Canadian Department of Justice and the University of Michigan Office of the General Counsel.
Deep Insight into NCDOT Condemnation PracticesBefore entering private practice, Jason spent more than 13 years as an Assistant Attorney General with the North Carolina Department of Justice, representing the North Carolina Department of Transportation in eminent domain matters. During that time, he handled a wide range of complex cases, including serving as lead counsel in a case involving one of the largest potential exposures faced by the NCDOT at that time.
“The professional relationships and friendships I developed all over the state and the experience of working on the inside has proven invaluable to me now, and I believe invaluable to my clients.”
His work on the government side provided him with a detailed understanding of how condemnation cases are evaluated and litigated. That experience now informs his approach when advocating for property owners, offering valuable perspective into how these cases may be handled from the opposing side.
Professional Recognition and LeadershipJason has significant trial experience, having handled numerous eminent domain cases across North Carolina. He has served as lead counsel in high-stakes matters and has argued cases before the North Carolina Court of Appeals.
